DesktopLyrics displays the lyrics of the song currently playing in 'iTunes' on your desktop.DesktopLyrics is an application that combines your wallpaper with the lyrics from iTunes. DesktopLyrics is licensed under Open Source 'MIT License', so it's free to use. The first thing you will see when you open the application is its icon from the Mac OS X dock. If you click on the icon you will have the possibility to see the preferences that come with the application. Even if is linked to iTunes, this is the only way to change something.
Desktop Lyrics Spotify
DesktopLyrics reads the song lyrics and puts them in front of the desktop wallpaper. You can change its behavior to show info: 'artist - song' if the lyrics are missing. If you have lyrics like 'instrumental' you can also chose to hide them. When iTunes is paused and you don't want to see the lyrics of the currently song, you can chose not to, from the 'options' in 'preferences'.By default, the application will align the lyrics on one side, but I wanted to change the position. DesktopLyrics gives you the possibility to change the position of the shown lyrics in all ways you would imagine, with any kind of vertical and horizontal text alignment. You can also chose the font, color and size of the lyrics. Another feature that I found to be very nice is the 'Font shadow' that gives to the text a 'glowing feeling'.
Pluses: free, lots of features, easy to configure and great looks.

In conclusion: If you like to sing along your iTunes songs, and you have lyrics to your files, DesktopLyrics is one of the best solutions. It gives you the freedom of not having another window for lyrics.
